Ortery Technologies Showcases Imaging Technologies at University of Arizona’s New Lundgren Consumer Sciences Lab
TUCSON, AZ – Ortery Technologies attended the grand opening of the Lundgren Consumer Sciences Lab at the University of Arizona on February 25th, where its 3D MultiArm 4000 and PhotoCapture 360XL are helping redefine imaging capabilities for students and researchers alike.

The cutting-edge lab was made possible by a generous donation from alumni Terry Lundgren, former Macy’s CEO, and his wife Tina. The couple attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside University President Suresh Garimella, celebrating the launch of an interdisciplinary space designed to bridge business and engineering education with real-world applications.
Students and faculty gathered alongside local business leaders for the event, where attendees toured the state-of-the-art facility. The lab houses a fully equipped photography studio, professional recording equipment, high-end computers, 3D virtual headsets, and advanced 3D, video, and imaging software, all available for students to utilize beyond class hours. The space is designed not only for coursework but also to help students build their resumes, earn certifications, and even launch their own businesses.
“They have really created a vibrant environment for learning that stands as a symbol of the university’s commitment to hands-on education,” said one attendee.
The lab’s offerings include Ortery’s solutions, which introduce students to product photography, 360-degree photo capture, and hemi/spherical imaging, key techniques in generating and texturing 3D models through photogrammetry. Management of the Ortery systems is led by Jordan Chin’s student-run staff, part of the University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT). UCATT provides access to the Ortery equipment for all students, faculty, and staff on campus, significantly expanding the technology’s reach beyond the 800 students served by the lab’s primary programs.
One of the event’s biggest highlights was the lab’s digital twin project, a meticulously crafted virtual retail space featuring realistic product representations, enhanced staging, and immersive visualization. This interactive digital twin allows students to explore store design, customer engagement strategies, and data-driven decision-making. By integrating traffic flow data, they can analyze inventory placement, promotional strategies, and shopper behavior, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with technologies shaping the future of retail.
